FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Would it be beneficial to use this product or PEA? My dog has seasonal allergies.

Insect plus Itch Relief can help reduce itching / irritation in the short term ( 6 - 8 weeks) so that a pet feels more comfortable until the PEA has had chance to work (can take up to 12 weeks).

  • Does this give immediate relief for itchy skin or is it something that will take time to work?

The Insect plus Itch Relief remedy is designed to start easing skin irritation within a few days. For a long-term solution if itching is caused by a sensitivity to environmental allergens (called atopy) it is worth trialling PEA for 12 weeks. In a clinical study this has been shown to significantly reduce itching in 2 out of 3 dogs reacting to pollen, grass, house dust, house dust mites etc. If you decide to go down this route, read the guidelines here first.

  • Should I be concerned about the alcohol listed as an ingredient in this product?

The alcohol (which is organic, although not stated on the label) is a necessity as a preservative to ensure the product is sterile.
It makes up 25% of the product as listed under the ingredients. The volume of the average drop of water is approximately 0.05ml (or 5 hundredths of a ml). 25% or 1/4 of this is alcohol which equals 0.0125 or just over a hundredth of a ml. 1 - 2 drops added to a morsel of food typically supplies less than 1 - 2 hundredths of a ml as the alcohol quickly evaporates. And so the amount of alcohol actually ingested, is miniscule, and of no consequence to pets at all, when used as directed.

  • My dog has been on PEA now for 10 weeks. She is not itching as much but she is still licking her paws frequently. Would it be worth using this alongside the PEA?

Yes it would be worth using Insect plus Itch relief alongside PEA as it helps to provide additional comfort.
