The benefits of feeding fully raw

We have discussed the benefits of raw feeding in many sections of this website (refer to Benefits of Whole Food meals and Why shift to our meals?).

A proper raw diet should incorporate muscle meats, edible bones, organs, fur, fruits, vegetables, and other whole foods.

A proper diet which consists of the right foods fed in their natural form (raw), gives our pets the essential vitamins, minerals and nutrients to help them be the healthiest version of themselves.

The impacts of cooking

Most dogs and cats can perfectly digest raw meat. Of course there are always exceptions especially for dogs having a compromised immune system or severe medical conditions. In order to ease the natural bacterial load on a dog with health conditions, a lightly cooked diet may be beneficial. In such case, it is important to be aware of the impact that cooking has on food nutrients.

When cooking foods, be aware of the following losses of nutrients:

  1. A reduction of B vitamins and taurine.
  1. The destruction of vitamin C and beneficial phytonutrients.
  1. The destruction of natural enzymes and bacteria that are beneficial to a healthy gut microbiome.
  2. Change in structure of proteins and fats.

We recommend adding Vitality  and if possible also Immunity to cater for any nutrient losses when cooking.
